MINUTE 0 - THE START

MINUTE 10 · HISTORY MEETS TECHNOLOGY

Mühlendamm Lock in the Heart of Berlin

One of the most exciting highlights of your tour: the historic lock system right in the middle of the city. The water rises and falls, Berlin changes elevation—and you’re right in the middle of it all.
  • A lock experience from a frog's-eye view on the water
  • Background History of Berlin's Waterways from the Live Guide

MINUTE 25 · POLITICS & TURNING POINT

Reichstag, Government Quarter, and Bellevue Palace

Here lies the political heart of Germany: the Reichstag with its glass dome, the Paul-Löbe-Haus, the Federal Chancellery—all viewed from the water. We continue past the House of World Cultures (affectionately called the “Pregnant Oyster” by Berliners) to Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the Federal President. There, we turn around and take in Berlin once more from the other side.
  • The Reichstag, with its Norman Foster dome, right in front of you
  • The Federal Chancellery as seen from the water—including the helicopter landing pad
  • House of World Cultures (“Pregnant Oyster”)
  • Carillon with 68 bells – a gift from Daimler (“Big Benz”)
  • Bellevue Palace & Tiergarten – we turn around here

MINUTE 60 · BACK ON LAND

Friedrichstraße, Weidendammbrücke & Berliner Dom

On the way back, Berlin reveals yet another side of itself: the Tränenpalast at Friedrichstraße Station, a former border crossing, and the Weidendamm Bridge with its Prussian imperial eagle—one of the few bridges to have survived the war. Then it’s back to Berlin Cathedral, where your tour began. Your head is full of stories about Berlin, your eyes full of images—a journey through history and the present in just one hour.

WHO WE ARE

The Story Behind Berlin Boat Tours

Berlin Boat Tours is Berlin's newest shipping company founded by Adrian and Flo, both Berliners with a passion for the water. Adrian is a trained boatman and has been working in Berlin's shipping industry for over 10 years, with a captain's license and experience at several well‒known Berlin shipping companies. Together, we wanted to build a shipping company that operates the way we would want a boat tour ourselves: honest, modern, good and without any frills.
