Live guide on board – always.
Berlin boat tour with guide: authentic Berlin stories, live on board
No audio stream, no recording. With us, a person with a microphone tells you the stories – in German and English. You ask, they answer.
What makes our live guide special
Berlin tells of Berliners – not of the audio player
There are many boat tours in Berlin, but only three shipping companies operate with a live guide instead of an audio stream. We are one of them – and for us, the live guide is not an extra, but the core of the tour. Because a city like Berlin thrives on the stories between the landmarks. And you only hear those from someone who is at home here.

Man with microphone, not tape recorder
Audio tours play their program rigidly – regardless of whether the Chancellor is driving by, an athlete is crossing the Spree, or you have a question about the Mühlendamm lock. Our live guide reacts, tells situational stories, and incorporates anecdotes. That's the difference between a pre-recorded tour and a real city exploration.
German & English alternating
International guests are standard for us, not the exception. Our live guides moderate in German AND English – seamlessly switching without feeling rushed. This way, everyone on board understands the stories, whether they're from Charlottenburg or Chicago.
Berlin stories
From the Palace of Tears across the Weidendamm Bridge to the Carillon, donated by Daimler ("Big Benz"): our guide tells stories not found in any guidebook. Secrets, anecdotes, and Berlin wit included.
Architecture & politics
Reichstag, Chancellery, Bellevue Palace, "Pregnant Oyster" – at each landmark, you'll learn what it is and what role it plays today. Politics, architecture, urban history – all interwoven, nothing forced.
You ask, he answers
Where does the Chancellor live? Why does the Reichstag have a glass dome? Why is the Pregnant Oyster called the Pregnant Oyster? Just ask the guide – he's a Berliner, he knows.
The difference in detail
Live guide on board vs. audio tour – what's the difference
Many boat tours in Berlin operate with headphone systems or audio streams. With us, a real person sits at the front with a microphone and narrates. Here are the honest and unvarnished differences.

WHO WE ARE

The Story Behind Berlin Boat Tours

Berlin Boat Tours is Berlin's newest shipping company founded by Adrian and Flo, both Berliners with a passion for the water. Adrian is a trained boatman and has been working in Berlin's shipping industry for over 10 years, with a captain's license and experience at several well‒known Berlin shipping companies. Together, we wanted to build a shipping company that operates the way we would want a boat tour ourselves: honest, modern, good and without any frills.
